Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.
Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.
A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.
King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.
Review
Wow that was a dark, riveting and heart pumping read. I didn’t expect it. But I was taken on a wild ride through the world of King and I did not want to get off. This book had everything I love tattooed bad boys, hot as hell sex and a riveting love story to tie all up into a nice black bow.
At first I thought the pacing was a bit slower for my taste. I like books that get right into the action and grab and retain my attention right off the bat. But I did like that when things do start happening they really starting going. I understand now that all the backstory at the beginning was necessary in order to understand the characters and their actions throughout the book.
I loved that this book is written with alternate viewpoints between the two main characters. It gives you a better feel of what each of them are thinking in each scene. All the characters in this book are intricate and bold in their own way. There was a fantastic attention to detail given to each of their personalities, how they talked and even how they dressed.
I can’t wait to start reading Tyrant now. This book definitely leaves you with a cliffy. But lucky for me Tyrant is already out so I’m going to go read it now. I’m sure this story will end with a bigger bang than when it started.
